On November 23, 2015, the implementation of the project “Support for access to the right to personal data protection” began, which is financed by the IPA TAIB 2012 program.

The project has a duration of 24 months and will be implemented by the Vialto Consulting Ltd group. (Vialto), Hungary in a consortium with the IPS Institute for Project Consultancy (IPS) from Slovenia and the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NADPFI), Hungary.

The main goal of the project is to improve the protection of personal data in the Republic of Macedonia in accordance with EU legislation. Also, this project will ensure further improvement (legal and institutional) of the framework for the protection of personal data in the Republic of Macedonia in accordance with good EU practices, all with the aim of ensuring that citizens are guaranteed the protection of their personal data through :

  • Further harmonization of the national legislation with the new reforms for the protection of personal data in the EU and the positive experiences

  • Strengthening the mechanisms for the protection of personal data in different areas

  • Development and implementation of a new strategy for the protection of personal data

  • Implementation of ISO IT standards and privacy standards.

The project will be implemented through the following three components:

Component 1 – Implementation of the Personal Data Protection Strategy 2012-2016 and development of a new Strategy 2017-2022,

Component 2 – Strengthening of the capacities for further implementation of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data and cooperation with the controllers and

Component 3 – Implementation of IT and privacy standards.
