Today marks the 16th anniversary of the existence of the Agency for the Protection of Personal Data. The agency was first established as the Directorate for Personal Data Protection on June 22, 2005, when the first director was appointed by a Decision of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. During its existence, it strengthens its place as a recognized protector and promoter of the right to privacy of natural persons in relation to the processing of their personal data, ready to meet the challenges of increasingly sophisticated technological development.

On the occasion of the 16th anniversary, the Agency in joint cooperation with DKAF – Geneva Center for the Management of the Security Sector is proud to announce that it has created the original Virtual Guide DPO (DPO), as another step in bringing the field of privacy protection closer together. and personal data to the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia. The purpose of the D-PI-O is to familiarize citizens with their rights in this area in a simplified way, which would enable the realization of these rights in a more efficient way. The guide offers useful advice on how citizens can protect their personal data and sensitive information, the disclosure of which would violate their privacy. The agency believes that by expanding the knowledge about the value of the personal data that we possess, it will help to deal more easily with the dangers that exist for them in this digital age.
